How beach tennis players survive the quarantine?

Frozen ranking, no tournaments until the middle of June. Such a sad picture was painted by Covid19. While the international situation is the same for everybody, the conditions in each country are different.
Therefore I decided to write a special article for beachtennis.io and show how beach tennis people survive quarantine all over the world. There will be 3-4 articles with 5 players from different countries. Each person I asked the same 4 questions.

The interesting thing, that most of the players have answered me right away. It has never happened in my career before.

What the situation right now in your country?

Right now in Italy is one of the worst situation all around the world! I’m in quarantine for a lot of days more than 20 ... I’m not counting! We have possibilities just to go to the supermarket or pharmacies.

For how long you haven’t been playing beach tennis by now?

I’m playing a kind of beach tennis in my garden. Not on the sand but on hard ground! And the court is not regular. I haven't been playing normal beach tennis since the beginning of quarantine!

How do you spend your time due to the situation? Do you manage to train?

I’m spending a lot of time watching TV, reading books, cooking and doing some exercises at home.

In Italy, we have been staying at home since the 8th of March. So we are in full quarantine.

For how long you haven’t been playing beach tennis by now?

I don’t remember exactly. But, I think I didn’t train with racket from 2/3 of March

How do you spend your time due to the situation? Do you manage to train?

In the first week at home, I started to do some physics train (workout in the living room) but I stopped it for some days cause I felt sick. I lost taste and smell and feeling tired (maybe those were symptoms). But now I am good and started home fitness again.

What the situation right now in your country?

Right now we are still allowed to go outside but it is limited. We are not allowed to contact other people. Only family members are all allowed to be together indoors and outdoors. All bars, restaurants, schools, fitness centers and Gymnasiums are closed.

For how long you haven’t been playing beach tennis by now?

I managed to play actual beach tennis on a Friday before all the rules went into effect. That was Friday the 13th of March.

How do you spend your time due to the situation?

I still have online classes to study and also I do FaceTimeing with my family back home on Aruba to keep in contact.

Do you manage to train?

Right now to keep me sane and fit I am running around 5-6 Km every other day. Doing personal workouts indoors. And I just bought a badminton net system that is easy to set up. So I can play with my girlfriend in the yard. So that I do not lose any ball feeling

What the situation right now in your country?

Here in Paris, the situation is complicated. We are in quarantine. We can only go out for food or pharmacy.

For how long you haven’t been playing beach tennis by now?

For the last time, I played beach tennis 10 days ago in Reunion island. And I flew back home to Paris right after that.

How do you spend your time due to the situation? Do you manage to train?

I manage to train at home. Of course, physically most of it, and we also do some hitting with my husband Morgan. We kind of adapted for the situation. But it's OK, we learn to put things into perspective in these situations.
